Expanding Production of Independent Content

EPIC is a multi-component project, which aims to fill existing information gaps in content supply and increase the resilience to manipulative narratives in Armenia. By supporting the creation of high quality, fact-checked and verified content the project will contribute to the cooperation of journalists and media outlets, exchange of experience and knowledge.

The project focuses on the coverage of social-economic themes, topics and highlights their influence and relevance concerning human rights.

MIC aims to champion a strong independent media sector in the region that is resistant to powerful interests seeking to manipulate, isolate, or control the press.

Project objectives:

  • Produce and disseminate high-quality and credible content across platforms that addresses issues of importance in their local communities and counters disinformation;
  • Improve cross-border content production and contextualize national stories into regional perspectives and better connect media and audiences across target countries.

According to the key requirement, up to 6 media projects will be selected. 2 of the projects should be from the Armenian Regions.

The implementation duration for grant programs is a maximum of 6 months.

Media Initiatives Center provides partner media outlets with targeted mentorship advice on multimedia and digital marketing strategies. Media representatives introduce their needs in advance and, as necessary, mentor-advisors support and guide them during the whole implementation process of the project.

Within the framework of the cooperation, the partners actively participate in international conferences and trainings to discuss the trends of media development, the existing challenges and combating means, the opportunities created.

The beneficiaries of the project are the registered online media outlets in Armenia.

The total budget is 240,115 USD.

“Expanding Production of Independent Content” is being implemented from December 2022 till September 2024 in cooperation with the Internews Network. The project is held in Georgia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Ukraine.
