Competing Narratives

What is the role of editorials and commentary articles in international media? Why are they so rarely used in some countries? And what contribution could opinion pieces make to the relationship between media and its audience?

“Competing Narratives” brings together 20 selected journalists from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey and Ukraine interested in introducing opinion articles on foreign affairs in the media landscapes of their countries.  They work with international experts and get insights into the peculiarities of commentary articles dedicated to international affairs.

For over ten months (June 2023-March 2024) the project will also look forward to transforming the group of participating journalists into a network which cooperates and continues the exchange of reports, opinion and commentary articles after the project end.

The project implementation is supported by German n-ost, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development․

The project budget: 164,400 EUR.
