The Internews conducted one day workshops for journalists of local radio stations and journalist-students. The events aimed at promoting social journalism within the radio information sector. The workshops were devoted to the World No-Tobacco Day (May 31) and the International Children’s Day (June 1). Experts of both fields were invited to present the current situation in the fields, problems faced by risk groups and topics that may be of interest to journalists. Later the workshop participants prepared news reports on reasons for smoking, hazards of smoking, the Quit & Win campaign, media coverage of children’s rights, the Armenian Relief Fund’s Children’s Orientation Center. After critical review and discussion held between group members and the Internews experts, the materials underwent further editing and were sent to radio stations for broadcasting.
