Internews Armenia was granted an award in the category “Facilitating Public Dialogue” for the spacebridge project “Yerevan – Baku. Front Line” at the 5th Annual Award ceremony of the Yerevan Press Club. YPC has been granting Annual Awards for the best journalists of Armenia since 1998.
The award-winning team was granted a prize for a series of 24 Yerevan – Baku spacebridges that aimed at boosting a dialogue between the two countries, discussing the possible ways of regulating the Karabakh conflict, as well as exploring possibilities for cooperation. It was the first project of that kind in 12 years since the beginning of the conflict. The award was granted on July 18, 2002, and consisted of a certificate and a special prize of the British Embassy in Armenia.
