Internews’ radio story about a woman with a civic consciousness won an award in British Council’s and OSCE Yerevan Office’s annual media competition “A Couple of Words about Women.” Held within the framework of the Wo/Men in Politics project, Na/Ne media competition was aimed at reviewing materials published or broadcasted during 2009 and covering activities and achievements of women in political, economic and social spheres, as well as encouraging a wider coverage of the issue.
The Na/Ne award ceremony was held on 2 February and included the categories TV Programme, Printed Article, Online/Blog Article, Radio Programme, Photo Story, Commercial. In the Radio Programme category Internews’ radio documentary became a winner. That was a story about Anna Aghajanyan – a woman with a double citizenship. Anna lived and worked in Ireland, but came to Armenia particularly for voting during Parliamentary and Presidential Elections. She was confident while stating, that if everyone asserts his/her voting and citizen rights, many changes will occur within the country. And Anna tried to prove her statement.
