In December Internews organized a talk show seminar that was designed to train journalists and talk show hosts in the fundamentals of pre-election coverage. This was the second training project aiming at preparing journalists for election debates and talk shows and was of specific importance, taking into consideration the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in February and May.
12 journalists from various TV stations were chosen to take part in the course by Yulya Muchnik, a consultant and television journalist from Tomsk, Russia. The participants spent 5 days, producing 4 talk shows that hosted prominent politicians and their representatives.
As David Aslanyan, the Internews training coordinator, mentioned,”I didn’t believe our participants could produce 4 shows within such a short period of time. The programs contained all the elements of talk shows – interviews, stories, vox pops. However, they really succeeded!.”
