“We want to get more people interested in documentary film as an art form and also start up a documentary platform in the region,“ said Sharka Zahradnikova from People in Need in the beginning of CAUCADOC project presentation on 12 April.
The CAUCADOC (Caucasus Documentary) project, implemented by three organizations – People in Need, Sakdoc Film and Internews – supports documentary filmmaking and use of documentaries as a tool for education and public awareness raising in the South Caucasus. During two years experienced tutors from the European documentary film industry will train filmmakers of the region. CAUCADOC also includes screenings and debates, as well as the use of documentary films at schools.
During April 12 event, the organizers announced start of the intensive project development course for professional documentary filmmakers. Selected teams will be offered participation at a six month training course (two week-long workshops and continuous online support). During the course, the teams will develop their film ideas, focusing on content and form of their project as well as on the production strategy. In conclusion of the course, the teams will get an opportunity to present their projects to international film funders and festival representatives at PitchDoc held during Tbilisi International Film Festival.
