Explaining Democracy: Reporting Initiative

The goal of this project is to provide Armenian citizens with a deeper understanding of European democratic systems and principles, showcasing them as fair and inclusive environments that offer multiple opportunities for society.

A two-day workshop is organized for at least ten selected journalists focusing on planning project activities, discussing the project’s goals, exploring European values, analyzing case studies, and providing information on significant institutions. Additionally, participants learn about various formats for presenting the topics covered by the project.

Afterwards, the journalists produce 1-2 multimedia stories by the end of the calendar year, focusing on explaining democratic institutions, opportunities, historical events, and key figures that have shaped European democracy, with a particular emphasis on the Netherlands.

Throughout the project, participants receive mentorship and attend thematic periodic workshops. The project concludes with a presentation showcasing the work produced.

The project is being implemented from January 2025, to December 2025 with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia.
